Prof. Dr. Ümit KILINÇ, a French and Turkish citizen, graduated from the Faculty of Law between 1995-1999, completed his legal internship and practiced as a lawyer for two years before completing his master's degree in international law in France in September 2004.

Adv. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit KILINÇ also served as an expert jurist at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) for a total of 5 years between April 2005-May 2006 and July 2008-April 2012. Between 2004 and 2009, he successfully completed his doctorate in international law in France and was awarded the title of Doctor of Law. From September 2012 to August 2013, he continued his academic studies as a lecturer/assistant professor in the Department of Public Law at the University of Reunion, France. Since 2021, he holds the title of Associate Professor in the field of Public International Law.

Prof. Dr. Ümit KILINÇ has written two books in French and Turkish and many academic articles/international papers in Turkish, French and English. He has also participated as a legal expert in many national and international seminars organized by the Council of Europe, associations and bar associations, particularly on human rights training for lawyers, judges and prosecutors.

Prof. Dr. Ümit KILINÇ, who is an international expert before the Council of Europe, is currently a lawyer affiliated to the Strasbourg Bar Association of France and the Istanbul Bar Association. He is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Strasbourg, where he continues to teach graduate courses.
